About Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Almost everyone has heard the word 'Botox'. But what does it actually do?
As age naturally progresses, we start to notice fine lines and wrinkle forming in particular areas of our face. Over an accumulation of years, this repetition of muscle movement allows the skin to become creased and wrinkled. These creases are then referred to as ‘dynamic’ lines due to those particular muscles being engaged during facial movements. Here is where “Botox” comes in…
Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly known as Botox is an intervention safely used since the 80’s for medical treatment and early 2000’s for aesthetic purposes to treat dynamic lines and wrinkles. Using a purified form of Botulinum toxin Type A, when injected into specific areas it temporarily block the signals between the nerve and the muscles that once contracted causing those lines. This temporary blocking of the signal restricts the muscle movement in the area and allows for the area to smooth over time creating a more youthful appearance. It is now considered one of the most popular non-surgical procedures to date.
Procedure
How long does it take?
A detailed consultation will be carried out to assess the areas of concern and carry out an overview of health, expectations for the treatment and any questions.
A bespoke plan will be devised specifically to you to ensure you leave with natural results that enhance your look.
The treatment time can vary depending on how many areas are treated. Typically an appointment including consultation time is expected to last 45 minutes in total.
Results
How long does it last?
The effects of antiwrinkle vary from patient to patient (factors such as genetics, medication. lifestyle and environment all play a role) but typically results last between 2-5 months
Post procedure results take 7-14 days to take effect. During initial stages of treatment, muscle movement will need to be monitored with a follow up appointment between day 14-21.
Aftercare
Is there any downtime?
Almost all patients can resume their normal activities post procedure. There will be small bumps in the area injected, but typically disappear after 2-3 hours.
Aftercare instructions are given post treatment. Please follow our recommended protocol to ensure you maximise the longevity of your results.
